Standing Rock Speaker Steven Antoine at UW

  • SMI 105 Seattle WA

Help Seattle give a warm welcome to Steven Antoine, a member of the Lakota Souix tribe and Standing Rock Water Protector! Steven will be speaking at UW about camp life at Standing Rock, the fight against the pipeline, environmental and indigenous activism and PTSD. Steven has been involved with No DAPL movement since August 2016 when he came to Standing Rock. At camp Steven worked security for the Sicangu Oyate (Rosebud Prayer Camp) where he helped pray, stop agitators and took those needing medical care off the frontlines. Steven has lots of knowledge about the inner workings of the camp and the struggle on the front lines. Please join CARE in spending an evening with this amazing Water Protector! Accessibility info:
- We ask attendees to keep this event scent free - no perfumes or heavy scented soaps/lotions please. Smith Hall however is not a scent free building.
- The event will be located in Smith 105 which is on ground level and wheelchair accessible. There is an elevator in the building though it is not always reliable.
- There are two gendered (male and female) bathrooms on the first floor where we will be located. There is a gender neutral bathroom on the second floor which unfortunately is not wheelchair accessible. We are hoping to make the two gendered bathrooms on the first floor gender-neutral for the evening.
- We are working to enlist an ASL translator for the evening, updates to come.
- Please feel free to contact us with any other accessibility questions or concerns ♥
- More information about the accessibility of Smith Hall can be found here: https://depts.washington.edu/disstud/access
