People For The Earth Fundraiser

Come join us for a beautiful evening of music, food, poetry, a silent auction, face painting, balloon twisting, raffles, informational speakers and vendors. 

We are gathering to raise funds for the West Texas Esto'k Gna Tribe who are leading the fight against the Fossil Fuel Industry and the destruction of our Mother Earth. They are working to establish traditional villages that help educate and bring awareness to the local communities. We are coming together to fight FRACKING, PIPELINES and the imminent destruction of sacred lands, flora and fauna. 

Please join us for a dinner of Cashew Molé with Chicken, Cashew Molé with veggies, homemade Spinach Tortillas, Veggie Spaghetti, Mixed greens salad , Capírotada (Mexican Bread Pudding) with Cajeta and Love Waters!

Batala Houston - 8:00 pm
Samba Reggae Drum Group
A Samba Reggae percussion band that is part of a worldwide family of over 1,000 Batalá drummers all over the world. We play afrobrazilian rhythms from Bahia, Brazil. Our band is made up of all-volunteer members, and we are currently open to anyone who is interested in learning more about joining us and drumming with us!


Sherita Perez - 8:30 pm
Sherita Perez stands apart from pretty much every other performer. One of the most diverse singers in Texas, Perez can go from full band performance to solo act with the snap of your fingers. Perez adds a sultry attitude to each and every song she writes. Perez brings a stage presence that can fill any room. She’s been featured in multiple publications including Houston Press, Scene Magazine, and Free Press Houston, as well as recording with famed producers Chris “Frenchie” Smith and Josh Applebee. Sherita Just released her EP Htown Love and went on a a Pacific West Coast tour.

Mary Carol Edwards - A 10th generation Texan, wetland biologist, and teacher in training at the Houston Zen Center. 
Mary Carol is the stormwater wetland program specialist at the Texas Coastal Watershed Program, a part of Texas Sea Grant and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. She works to demonstrate the benefits of designing wetlands into flood control basins in the Galveston Bay watershed. She has previously worked at TCWP’s freshwater wetland restoration program, landscape design and landscape architecture companies, and also in genetics labs at Baylor College of Medicine and Rice University.
Mary Carol is a Houston native. She has a BA in Biology and an MA in Architecture from the University of Houston and enjoys bringing both disciplines together in projects that incorporate nature in the built environment. Mary Carol will talk about the waterways that are impacted by the proposed pipeline, and what that can mean to us. What is the value of a fish you can't eat? What is the value of water you can't drink?

Fox Red Sky - An Activst and film maker Native to Texas. She is a student at Austin Film School, a US Veteran, mother and a wife. Fox a Lipan Apache, is a proud member of the Native American Church and the Green Party. When Fox finds spare time she also creates beautiful pow wow shawls and is working on bringing back traditional native plants and foods. Fox is currently working on her documentary Keep the Fire Lit:lost tribes of texas, which is truly a labor of love. Fox will present a short documentary on the Carrizo ComeCrudo Tribe of Texas and share her experience in the making of this film. You can vist
