Knoxville Stands With Standing Rock

  • Market Square, Knoxville Knoxville, Tennessee 37902 (map)

Join us this and every Sunday as we gather in peace and solidarity with Standing Rock.
Market Square, Knoxville
Sunday’ Feb.19, 2017, 2 p.m.
This action includes music, a Standing Rock update, a march, meditative prayer and often times a Native American water ceremony.
Please come and support the Sioux Water Protectors as they battle the greed of the fossil fuel cartels who seek to complete their Dakota Access Pipe Line. The DAPL will run through Sioux sacred ground and under a river that is the water source of their sovereign nation. In 1851, eight plains tribes and the United States signed the Treaty of Ft. Laramie, also known as the Horse Creek Treaty. The agreement defined the tribes’ respective land boundaries and gave the U.S. the right to build infrastructure within. However, the U.S. pledged to protect the tribes from “all depredations by the people” of the United States.
