Group meeting on Keystone XL Pipeline (Oct 19 Rapid City SD)

  • The Outdoor Campus-West 4130 Adventure Trail Rapid City, SD, 57702 United States (map)

For our next public meeting we'll have a speaker who is a leader in the multi-state effort to stop the construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline. John Harter is a Winner area rancher who chairs the Board of Dakota Rural Action. He owns land in the pipeline's path and opposes its construction.

This controversial pipeline has been in the planning stage for many years. Often referred to as KXL, it will transport oil from the tar sands of Alberta, Canada to join an existing pipe
line in southeast Nebraska. KXL will cross western South Dakota, where it has been granted approval by the state's Public Utilities Commission. In Nebraska it has yet to gain the equivalent approval, which may be the last regulatory hurdle before construction can begin.

Our meeting will be on Thursday, October 19 at 6:30 pm, at the Game, Fish & Parks Outdoor Campus in Rapid City, on Sturgis Road just north of West Chicago Street. This meeting is free and open to the public. Please come and show support for Mr. Harter and his steadfast opposition to the KXL pipeline.
