We're organising a music space against fracking at this year's Big Beach Busk to represent the anti-fracking campaign. We've a few folk coming already but if you're up for a tune or two it'd be great to have you join. If you're up for this can you let us know below. More details about the big busk can be found via: https://www.facebook.com/BigBeachBusk
A joint venture of Friends of the Earth Scotland, Kirkintilloch Against Fracking, The Bentley Effect Team and Torrance gainst Fracking
The Bentley Effect documents the extraordinary tale of a community that defied the gas juggernaut - and won.
When the coal seam gas industry staked a claim on the Northern Rivers shire of Australia, alarm bells rang out. A critical mass of people from all walks of life – farmers, landowners, mums, dads, activists, scientists – organised themselves to rally against the unconventional gas invasion. Despite the enormous public opposition, the gas industry and the State Government were determined to see their gas plan through. What happened next set an historic precedent.
Join Brendan Shoebridge, Simon Clough and Ian Gaillard who each played an important part in the Bentley Effect story as they take their documentary around Scotland as part of the Bentley Effect 2017 UK Tour.
With the fight against fracking and unconventional gas in Scotland at a critical stage this year, we invite you to these special screenings to learn first hand how communities can protect themselves against unwanted unconventional gas development.
These events are FREE, though donations towards venue costs would be much appreciated.
THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT IS CONSULTING THE PUBLIC ON WHETHER THEY SHOULD ALLOW UNCONVENTIONAL GAS EXTRACTION (FRACKING) TO GO AHEAD, OR BAN IT.
THE CONSULTATION CLOSES ON MAY 31ST, 2017. YOU CAN TAKE PART IN THE CONSULTATION EVEN IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE SCOTLAND.
Find out about how you can take part on the Broad Alliance website at http://www.broad-alliance.org/news-1/consultation.
Members of South Lanarkshire Against Unconventional Gas will hold a stall to provide information on the current Scottish Govt's public consultation on Unconventional Oil & Gas. Information on the various ways of responding will be provided, including the quick and easy 'Friends of the Earth' freepost cards.
In order to inform a response to the Scottish Government consultation, we are hosting an event for local residents within the Larbert, Stenhousemuir & Torwood area to come along and discuss the pros and cons of fracking, and related matters, and to evaluate the potential benefits and impacts on our local community. All views are welcome at this event which will be impartially facilitated.
Please help spread the word about this important consultation event by sharing and passing on to anyone you know who may be interested in attending.
The Scottish Government's consultation closes on 31st May and can be viewed at: http://www.talkingfracking.scot/
