Building Unity in the Spirit of Standing Rock

  • Bark 351 Northeast 18th Avenue Portland, OR, 97232 United States (map)

Please join us for a talk and performance of traditional music by young indigenous organizer Jacob Johns, from the Hopi and Akimel O'odham tribes.

Johns will speak on how Portland can be a part of the greater water protector movement, including upcoming efforts against petroleum infrastructure and police brutality in the Pacific Northwest. He will describe the deep cultural relevance of standing rock and how the attitudes and views of indigenous resistence inherently liberate us from the current political and social climate.

Jacob is based out of Spokane, WA, and is a Community Supported Organizer for the interior Pacific Northwest. Snacks provided.
