Fresh, Local, #NoDapl

  • Indian Pueblo Cultural Center 2401 12th Street Northwest Albuquerque, NM, 87104 United States (map)

La Montanita Food Co-Op (four locations in ABQ, one in Santa Fe) holds a payroll account (and likely other business accounts) with Wells Fargo, which has invested in the Dakota Access Pipeline.

We will attend the regularly scheduled board meeting to request that the Co-OP close all its Wells Fargo accounts for the following reasons:

1). WTF is an organization that touts the value of local products doing with an international bank rather than a local credit union in the first place?

2). Wells Fargo backs the Dakota Access Pipeline, which violates the rights and disturbs the lands of Indigenous people. That is reason enough for me, but the pipeline also threatens clean water supplies for millions of people downriver. The Co-Op's stated commitment to the environment should preclude it from associating with any business, corporation, organization, or individual that threatens to destroy the Earth and its resources.
