Burlington County Freeholders Meeting - Reject the NJNG Pipeline

  • 49 Rancocas Road Mount Holly, NJ, 08060 United States (map)

The New Jersey Natural Gas Southern Reliability Link pipeline is a 30-mile, 30" diameter, 722 psi gas transmission pipeline slated to be routed from Chesterfield, in Burlington County, to Manchester, in Ocean County. This pipeline is associated with the Garden State Expansion, which includes a new compressor station in Chesterfield. These projects put the health and resources of residents, our ecosystem, and our environmental regulations at risk.

Each Pinelands County has a representative designated to represent them on the Pinelands Commission. Burlington County's representative, Sean Earlen, is the chair of the Commission and voted to approve the South Jersey Gas pipeline in February. He is appointed by the Burlington County Freeholders.

Many townships and residents within Burlington County have been actively fighting these projects. Burlington County is currently engaged in litigation over the road-opening permits for the pipeline. Concerning this lawsuit, the Freehodler Director stated: "This board will vigorously oppose this attack by New Jersey Natural Gas, just as we have actively opposed the proposed route for this pipeline."

It is time for the Burlington County Freeholders to act upon these statements and the sentiment of their residents. Tell the freeholders that their representative must vote to reject this pipeline to protect the interests of Burlington County and the integrity of the Pinelands.

The public comment meeting for the NJNG SRL pipeline is on July 26 at 9:30am at the Pine Belt Arena in Toms River: https://goo.gl/Mpi2vp. Sean Earlen's current term on the Pinelands Commission expires July 27, 2017.
