Overview - Liberty Utilities has proposed an 11-mile fracked gas pipeline running along RT 12-A in W. Lebanon, NH to west of the Lebanon Green, and north to downtown Hanover.

Community opposition is mounting, including nine community organizations. In the past, “natural” gas was widely viewed as a “bridge fuel”, less polluting when burned than oil and coal, a bridge until renewable energy sources were more affordable and available. But solid research over the last 6 years shows that hydraulically fractured (fracked) gas (1) has a larger greenhouse gas footprint than oil and even coal due to methane leaks, thus contributing more to climate change than other fuels and (2) results in serious health and water quality impacts in the communities where it is extracted.

Water is Life Walk ~ Merrimack River
Jul

Water is Life Walk ~ Merrimack River

WATER IS LIFE WALK ~ MERRIMACK RIVER ~July 23 through August 21 ~ is a healing walk for the Sacred Water within the Merrimack River Watershed and ALL THE LIFE that the Sacred Water sustains. Each step is a prayer. As we carry the Sacred Water with love, respect, and gratitude; our footsteps transfer those energies into the land where it is picked up by every drop of water in the soil and that is then passed on to the water within the roots of all plants and trees and the bodies of every burrower. As the drops gather into streams, creeks, brooks and rivers the finned, winged and the 4 legged come to the SacredWater and they too pick up those energies. Praying for the Sacred Water is praying for everything and everyone ~ for nothing lives without water.

We walk because the ancestors walked ~ by walking we follow in their footsteps and can pick up the treasures” that were left along the trail!! The Seventh Fire Prophecy tells us to pick up the treasures left by the ancestors and bring them back. One of the “treasures” that was left for us to pick up is the connection of Human Beings to the SacredWater that birthed us all. When we find or rebirth this connection we begin to move from seeing Water as a resource into the deeper understanding that SacredWater is the SOURCE of Life. That process helps return the sacred nature of water back into the word and our understanding of that sacredness. In Native languages the words for water include within the word the Sacred Nature of the Water. When I speak in English I like to say SacredWater as one word because in English the sacred nature of water has been removed from the word.

Water Is Life Walk is also a CELEBRATION OF LIFE. As we walk we take notice of all the plants and animals that come across our path and look inside to see their connection to each other and the Sacred Water. It is a way of reconnecting ourselves to All That Is within the Web of Life (the Universe). Bringing us back to the understanding that none of the plants and animals that feed us would be here if it where not for the water, none of the trees and plants that make our air would be here and without them we would not be here! All of this helps us remember or renew our personal connection to the SacredWater that birthed us all and continues to sustain us everyday.

Our ancestors cut these waters in their birch bark canoes from source to the sea with many portage trails along the way! As we travel down the river we will address the dams along the river. Each dam obstructs the natural flow of the water and movement of the fish and wildlife that are needed to sustain a healthy river. Each dam creates a catch-basin for pollutants from the mills and communities upstream as well as organic waste from storm runoff ~ pollution builds up as we go down the river.

All Nations ~ All Faiths ~ One Prayer for the Sacred Water is the connecting Source Of Life ~ the Great Unifier. You do not have to belong to a Tribal Nation for this to affect you ~ we were all born of the water ~ all our children were born of the water and all our grandchildren will be born of the water. If we do nothing WHAT KIND OF WATER will they spend those first nine months in??

What can I do to help?
~ Join the planning and preparation team ~ your knowledge of the river and your town is valuable to me .

Indigenous Flood - United Nations : NYC - Come to New York!

to May 5

Indigenous Flood - United Nations : NYC - Come to New York!

The Flood never came to Standing Rock, so let's bring the Flood to the United Nations.

From April 24th to May 5th the United Nations in New York City is holding the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, also known as PFII. Typically, these forums lack Native American representation, and often have Non-Natives speaking on behalf of Natives and their issues. This ends now.

For two weeks, we need to show New York, The UN, and the world that Indigenous People are here, and can speak for themselves.

The world will not forget what happened at Standing Rock. The world will no longer ignore the conditions on reservations, and the issues effecting indigenous people around the globe. 3/4 of the world's population are indigenous, and it's time they stop forgetting that.

There are multiple levels of events within this forum, some more exclusive than others. We want to come out in full force at every level. From top to bottom. From panels at the UN headquarters to flash mob round dances in Time Square, we are going to Flood New York City.

Whether you are registered for the forum or not, we are asking for all indigenous people and allies to come to New York City and show your support. As the strongest of warriors take the United Nations to speak, they will have the support of their brothers and sisters outside, praying, singing, marching and standing in solidarity.

Thousands came to Standing Rock. Thousands came to DC. And we can do the same in New York City.

We are planning a plethora of events, from demonstrations, to speaking engagements, to gatherings and dances and celebrations. For two weeks, let's make New York City our new home.

More details to come as this develops and grows.

If you would like to register your own group for the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (PFII) in New York City. http://bit.ly/PFIIRegistration

Standing with Standing Rock: Ongoing
Monday, January 30th, 6:45-9pm

We are honored to be welcoming Chief Wompemeequin and Catherine Hoffman to lead an evening of conversation about the faithful witness of the Water Protectors and their allies at Standing Rock.

We will have an opportunity to celebrate this witness, as well as to learn about the ongoing difficult challenges,
and how we can organize to support this movement up ahead.

Looking forward to being with you,
