Sportspersons Against Line 5 - Wear blaze orange!

  • McGulpin Point Lighthouse 500 Headlands Road Mackinaw City, MI, 49701 United States (map)

Open call out to everyone, but ESPECIALLY hunters, fishers, & foragers, to stand in unity against Line 5.

We would like Bill Schuette to know that his failure to protect Michigan against Line 5 is also a failure to protect hunters, fishers, & their families. Hunting and fishing are a valued part of Michigan's culture, and many family's food supplies. Line 5 is a significant threat our ability to ensure hunting and fishing access for generations to come.

Line 5 is a threat not only to the straits, but to every creek. river. swamp and forest it crosses! Enbridge, operator of Line 5, caused the largest inland oil spill in US history when Line 6b ruptured into the Kalamazoo river near Marshall. How long until the much older Line 5 ruins the pristine wildlands it crosses?! We stand in defense of the straits, of the Pigeon River forest, the Sturgeon River, the Au Sable River and Tobico Marsh! Join us!

The day of the event:

**Wear your hunting/fishing/outdoorsing clothes!**

Blaze orange, camo, fishing vests, muck boots; etc, but *please do not bring any guns or weapons* (fishing poles OK).

Many rallies of outdoorspersons center around the relationship between outdoorspersons and firearms. This rally centers around the relationship between outdoorspersons and the outdoors, how Enbridge's Line 5 is a fundamental threat to that relationship, and how sportspersons can and will organize a response to that threat, so please, no hunting rifles or other weapons.
