Brunch for Brennon: Supporting Standing Rock Water Protectors

  • Canterbury House 721 E Huron St Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104

Brennon Nastacio is a water protector who faced serious criminal charges after disarming a DAPL employee who showed up with an AR-15 at Pueblo Camp. Instead of being honored for keeping people safe in a tense and dangerous situation, he found himself in a protracted legal battle that restricted his ability to return home, work, and care for his two children. Today he is setting up a new life in Bismarck, North Dakota where he has been court ordered to remain for the foreseeable future. To learn more about his story, watch the coverage from The Young Turks and Democracy Now below.

We are raising money to help Brennon take care of his legal and car bills as well as set-up his home in North Dakota. We believe that one of the most important ways that we can maintain a strong, resilient political resistance in these difficult times is by taking care of the people who take courageous stands.

This brunch is going to be a celebration of Brennon and others like him. We hope you can join us for a delicious meal and community building. Kids are welcome to join us (we will try and find some high chairs, let us know if you have one to share!) and there will be vegan and gf options available.

We are currently gathering food donations and items to raffle, if you are able to donate either or have tips for people who might be able to help, please send us a message!
