Pipeline Postcard Party

  • Veterans Memorial Library 301 S. University Ave Mount Pleasant MI (map)

The US Forest Service is accepting comments regarding the permiting of Enbridge's Line 5 pipeline through an 11.5 mile section of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Bayfield County, Wisconsin.

Line 5 could potentially cease operations and be decomissioned if the permit allowing an easement through Chequamegon-Nicolet is not renewed. In a time when scientists posted at management stations througout the wilds of the US are "going rogue", we think it's best to let people like USFS Project Manager Jonathan McNeill and Region 9 Director Kathleen Atkinson know that we will support them when the time comes to make the right decisions; those rogue decisions that protect ecology over economy.

This event is part of a wider coordinated effort led by Ashland Action Network. Check them out for loads of details. and because they're super legit.

AAN informed us the decision will ultimately be made by Kathleen Atkinson in Millwaukee, but Jonathan McNeill is compiling comment letters at Chequamegon-Nicolet. We will address postcards to Kathleen, but mail them to Jonathan.

CACC will be at Veterans Memorial Library in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on Tuesday February 28th from 5:30p until 7:00p

We'll get started at 5:40 with a short presentation on how to make public comments.

We will have postcards ready, along with information available for you to use in your comments. We'll handle all the postage. You won't even need to bring a pen! All you need to bring is your voice and a willingness to use it.
