Louisiana Water Protector Training - Lafayette (Feb 24 Lafayette LA)

  • Lafayette Public Library 301 West Congress Street Lafayette, LA, 70501 United States (map)

Louisiana natives are joining together to ensure that our wetlands and waters are protected from further harm caused by big oil companies like Energy Transfer Partners, the company behind the proposed Bayou Bridge Pipeline, whose planned route is set to cross 700 bodies of water including the Atchafalaya Basin and Bayou Lafourche.

This free and open-to-the-public training program facilitated by members of Louisiana Bucket Brigade, L'eau Est La Vie, Gulf Restoration and 350 Louisiana will cover a range of important environmental protection policies and procedures that will empower we, the People, to hold these companies accountable.

Examples include:
-Regulations to which petrochemical companies are required to conform to,
-The proper agencies to report spills, hazards, unsafe conditions and adverse effects to local wildlife, and
-How to get water and soil tested for hazardous waste and pollution.

This training will take place in the conference room on the second floor of the Main Branch of the Lafayette Public Library.
