Zona Abierta - Black Snake Warriors: Tales from Standing Rock

Presented by the UIC Latino Cultural Center and the UIC Native American Support Program -NASP

Exhibition: 10am - 5pm
Visit this all-day photo exhibit by Tim Arroyo, which documents the unfolding story of conflict in the path of the Dakota Access Pipeline,as sheriff, police, and military took the "Treaty 1851 Camp,” on October 27, 2016.

Presentation: 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Arroyo will present how his photographs focused on how the Water Protectors remained peaceful, prayed, and locked arms in defense of this action. This incursion triggered a chain of events leading to the #NoDAPLmovement.

• The staff and students of the Native American Support Program will lead us in a prayer and burning of sage!
