Press Conference: Public Water for All (Oct 25 Peoria IL)

  • Trewyn Middle School Peoria, IL (map)

Peoria's water system has been privatized for over a century, with the latest owner being private company Illinois American Water. The result is that residents of Peoria pay nearly double the rates that most Illinois residents do.

On Wednesday, October 25th, Illinois American Water is hosting a forum in Peoria at Trewyn Middle School to talk about the benefits of Peoria's water system.

But we know that privatizing local water and sewer systems usually does far more harm than good for our communities. Privatization causes the loss of public input and transparency, causes rate increases, undermines the human right to water, and so much more.

Join Food & Water Watch, Change Peoria, and League of Women Voters - Peoria at a press conference by the front entrance of Trewyn Middle School and demand public, affordable, and safe water for all!
