March 10 - Statewide Student Walkout

The Sabal Trail Resistance is calling for the students and teachers of Florida to organize a walk out on Friday March 10th to protest the Sabal Trail Pipeline.

Pipeline construction has occurred or is occurring less than a mile from schools along the pipeline route, including in Dunnellon, Bronson and Kissimmee. A leak or explosion could impact the health and safety of the students and has not been adequately assessed in the Environmental Impact Statement.

This protest is a statewide action to disrupt everyday school activities to bring awareness to the schools and students in extreme proximity to this 515 mile fracked gas pipeline and the dangers surrounding it .

We are calling students to get organized and involved in defending their community from the imminent environmental danger this pipeline imposes to the people of this community, the land, and the Florida aquifer which supplies many Floridans water supply. We encourage the students of Florida to present pipeline dangers as well as clean alternative energy sources at this time.

March 10 is also a national day of action called by the Standing Rock Tribe to stop the Dakota Access pipeline.

The Sabal Trail Resistance will continue to mobilize against the construction and use of this pipeline through community awareness, demonstrations and divestment. We will continue to partner with other established organizations working together to heal mother earth and stop the destruction of our land and life source.

No walkout planned at your school yet? Inform, educate, and inspire your fellow students and teachers to take action! Set up your own local event and spread the word!
