Non-Violent Direct Action Training

  • Mancos Public Library 211 West First St / PO Box 158 Mancos, Colorado 81328 (map)

Cliff Willmeng and Read Brugger will be facilitating this training. Both are experienced trainers in non-violent direct action (NVDA). Due to capacity limitations for the community room at the library, you must register for this event. To do so please call Read at 970-564-9481. We will hold a few spots for day-of arrivals but only those who have registered will be guaranteed a spot.

In response to mounting attacks on our right to speak out to end oppression the goals for the day are: the definition and historical examples of nonviolent action; how to organize an action; how to evaluate success; affinity groups (to be explained); legal issues; role-playing, for example, in an arrest situation; consideration of fears and feelings; and evaluation of the training and next steps.
If possible, please arrive a little early because we have quite a full agenda, and we’d like to start right at 9:30 AM. Please bring a bagged lunch; we will set aside a half hour for lunch so you may not have time to buy one in town. We will have coffee, tea and water to drink.

Participants will receive handouts and some additional reading material will be available for a very small charge or donation. There is NO COST to attend this workshop, however, we will have a donations jar for REAP, which is leading this workshop.
