Non Violent Direct Action Training 201

  • Woodbine Ecology Center 2584 Colorado 67 Sedalia, CO, 80135 United States (map)

During these turbulent times we’ve seen many communities mobilize and rally in response to various threats. One way in which people have responded is by using Non Violent Direct Action (NVDA). Often, the use of NVDA is done as a quick reaction without much time to formulate a strategy or gather supporting resources. So the tendency develops in which we defend our communities by repeating the same tactics even if they are not the most effective.

This day long training will offer some tools that allow us to combine community strategies with NVDA tactics. We will also use some simulated NVDA scenarios and situations within the context of community support and examine questions of accountability, decision making and consequences.

We will also cover NVDA elements such as - holding space (blockades) & moving through space as a group, decision making in an action, situational awareness, scouting, communication in action situation, “crowd control” weapons and dealing with trauma.
