Global 6K Run/Walk for Water

  • Willow Farm Park Longmont, Colorado 80503 (map)

On Saturday May 6th there will be a Host Site for World Vision’s Global 6K for Water at our very own Willow Farm Park. What is a 6K for water? Well, on one day over 20,000 people all around the world will be walking or running to bring clean water to children in the developing world and it’s going to be amazing.
Over 1,000 children die everyday from not having access to clean water - that’s more than AIDS and Malaria combined. On top of that - the average distance kids have to walk for this dirty water is 6K about 3.7 mi. It keeps them out of school and it makes them even more vulnerable to kidnapping and trafficking because most of the time they walk alone.
This event changes all that! Every person who signs up for the Global 6K provides lasting clean water to a child in need and removes that barrier from their life allowing them to pursue the fullness of life!
I know what you’re thinking, “I love the cause but I’m not a runner, I’m out of shape, there’s no way I can do this.” It doesn’t matter if you are in shape, you can run it; you can walk it, or even push a stroller. ANYONE WHO WANTS TO - CAN DO THIS!
I am looking for a sponsor ( like King Soopers) to donate gallons of water so that we can have them for people around the half-way point so they can elect to carry one back to the park. This is a great way to help children understand and appreciate the difficulty that third world children face daily, and what a blessing it is to have clean water running out of their own faucets each day.
I invite you to strengthen our community spirit with one another. Come out and meet your neighbors and speak face to face with those who live around you. It is my hope that we can set aside our differences of opinion on any other subject, get behind something that we can all agree on, and work together to affect lasting positive change!
