Rise with Standing Rock - Colorado Springs

  • Colorado Springs City Hall 107 N Nevada Ave # 100 Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903 (map)

"The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and Indigenous grassroots leaders call on our allies across the United States and around the world to peacefully March on Washington DC on March 10th. For those who cannot march with us in Washington DC, we ask that you take peaceful action at home in your tribal nations, states, cities, towns, villages and provinces. We ask that you rise in solidarity with the Indigenous peoples of the world whose rights protect Unci Maka (Grandmother Earth) for the future generations of all."

In response to this call from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and Indigenous leaders, the Colorado Springs community is again mobilizing to show our unyielding and unwavering support for the Standing Rock Sioux in their fight against DAPL and with all Indigenous nations in their fight for their rights.

We will gather in front of City Hall on March 10th at 5pm to hear from speakers, march on downtown, and then provide concrete actions for the community to take in support of this growing, global movement. The tribe has expressed a desire to form a worldwide coalition with a concerted, boots-on-the ground presence, and we will do everything we can to support the development of this permanent coalition.

As always, this will be a peaceful, non-violent action open to all generations.

Speakers: TBA

More from the Standing Rock Sioux:

"Our Demands
#TakeTheMeeting - President Trump must meet with tribal leaders to hear why it’s critical that the US government respect tribal rights. This administration must work with us.

#ConsentNotConsultation - Tribal interests cannot continue to be marginalized in favor of the interests of corporations and other governments. Consultation is not enough – we must require consent.

#NativeNationsRise - The Standing Rock movement is bigger than one tribe. It has evolved into a powerful global phenomenon highlighting the necessity to respect Indigenous Nations and their right to protect their homelands, environment and future generations. We are asking our Native relatives from across Turtle Island to rise with us."
