  • Colorado State Capitol (Senate Committee Room 347) 200 East Colfax Avenue, room 357 Denver, CO, 80203 United States (map)

CALL TO ACTION COLORADO RESIDENTS!

FINALLY WE HAVE A DATE FOR THE HEARING FOR SB17-035!

Sonnenberg’s SB 17-035

A bill for an act concerning tampering with equipment associated with oil and gas gathering operations:

This bill changes the penalty for this action from a class 2 misdemeanor to a class 6 felony.

The risk here is how the law will be interpreted, the language is vague and something as simple as sitting in a car using a phone with an anti-fracking bumper sticker could be construed as an offense.

This is clearly an attempt to prevent personal right to peaceful protest oil and gas operations.

The extreme nature of the penalty. 18 months to 1 year and $1,000-$100,000 fine. Example of a Class 6 Felony: Possession of up to two grams of methamphetamine.

WE MUST NOT LET THIS BILL PASS! PLEASE SHOW FOR SUPPORT AND IF POSSIBLE BE PREPARED TO SPEAK AGAINST THIS BILL!

IF YOU PLAN TO SPEAK PLEASE BE PREPARED WITH CONCISE STATEMENTS ABOUT YOUR OPPOSITION TO THIS BILL!
