Indigenous Peoples Community Day (Oct 8 Denver CO)

  • HEAL Denver 938 West 8th Avenue Denver, CO, 80204 United States (map)

In the midst of so much political, social and environmental chaos the International Indigenous Youth Council (IIYC) presents
Indigenous People’s Park Day:
A Celebration of Art as a Form of Resistance.
This is an interactive event that is filled with indigenous art, song, dance and workshops to share the beauty of indigenous cultures from around the world. Held across multiple cities we want to send the message that we are here, we are indigenous, and we are connected.

There will be free food and live music at this event.
There will also be workshops on indigenous drums, herbal tinctures and teas, and screen printing for resistance art.

The IIYC is a non-profit organization that was started during the Standing Rock Indigenous Uprising, in 2016, while peacefully protecting the Cannonball and Missouri Rivers against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. We are rooted in the protection of land, air and water rights for indigenous and
non-indigenous communities alike. We aspire to inspire young individuals to stand up for what they believe in and become leaders of their indigenous communities.
