Join the Santa Barbara Standing Rock Coalition on Monday April 3 at 5pm, at El Centro to make banners with #NoDAPL and #NoKXL messages to raise awareness about how Trump's greenlighting of DAPL and KXL Pipelines are acts of war against indigenous and other frontline communities and will be met with resistance by means of direct action, divestment, and lawsuits. These pipelines violate indigenous treaties, threaten to poison drinking water, and destabilize our vulnerable climate. We'll be holding or hanging these banners in high visibility areas in Santa Barbara on April 10, Monday, around 4pm. Details to be discussed and determined at this event.
Bring any materials or art supplies you think might help this effort.
THANK YOU CARDS:
We'll also spend time writing thank you cards to Mayor Helene Schneider for having helped to pass a Standing Rock Solidarity Resolution with City Council on November 1, 2016. We'll also ask that she introduce a divestment resolution so our City no longer supports DAPL financiers Wells Fargo and Union Bank (owned by Tokyo-Mitsubishi). Let her know you are interested in the City adopting a socially responsible investment policy, as many other cities have.
See here for more details on the City's relationship to DAPL Financiers: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mlCT_fsApQvtlq54ttfY-I3a6Nv6E_gSSxqQsuq3oMc/edit#
Also thank you so so so much El Centro for allowing us to use this space!
