Irish We'd Divest from DAPL - St. Patrick's Day Office Visit

  • 200 North Spring Street Los Angeles, CA, 90012 United States (map)

Join us in dropping off clover cards at City Hall that say "Irish We'd Divest from DAPL!" (or something similar). We'll first hit the city council offices and the Mayor's Office. After, we will go across the street to Senator Harris's office in the justice building. If time allows, we can drive over to Senator Feinstein's office in Brentwood.

I scheduled the event at lunchtime so working folks can maybe take their lunchbreak to do this. I'll make sure that we have some sandwiches and snacks for the people participating.

I did something similar to this for Valentine's Day with heart cards that urged for immigrant rights, and got a very positive response! The City Council offices were very coutreous and made it seem like if the councilmembers weren't in meetings, that they would have liked to speak to us face to face.

Some other reccomendations...

1. These offices have security scanners like at the airport, so maybe don't wear lots of jewelry on this day.
2. Be super courteous to everyone working at the offices whether they are police, secretaries, or the councilmembers themselves. We want our movement to leave a good impression!
3. If you are nervous about speaking to these people remember...they really do appreciate office visits and want to better understand their constiuents! If we are successful at communicating our message, THEY will be successful at doing their job...so office visits are kind of a win-win. :)
