NoDAPL Divestment Crawl

  • Willow Glen Town Square 1100 Lincoln Ave San Jose, California 95125 (map)

Mass San Jose Divestment Action for the No Dakota Access Pipeline (NoDAPL) Movement!

Per the violation of the Fort Laramie Treaty of 1851 which maps non-ceded Lakota Sioux First Nations lands, Environmental Justice Executive Order 12898, the National Environmental Policy Act of adequate environmental review, and our code of COMPASSION - the Federal Government, Energy Transfer Partners and company, and major banks in the United States have forced us to DIVEST from the major banks funding DAPL.

Willow Glen is a PERFECT NoDAPL bank divestment action location. Comerica, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi Bank, and Chase are all within 1-3 blocks from each other on Lincoln Ave.

We will be meeting at Willow Glen's Town Square before marching and crawling to each bank where you can have a chance to close your account from the bank that currently services you.

HOWEVER! Before you close your account, you MUST do the following first:

1) Choose a Community Bank or Credit Union of your choice (e.g. Bay Commercial Bank, Community Bank of the Bay, Fremont Bank of San Jose, Umpqua Bank, Santa Clara County Federal Credit Union, Patelco Credit Union, Meriwest Credit Union, San Jose Credit Union, PremierOne Credit Union, Provident Credit Union, etc.)

2) Visit the Credit Union of your choice to open your new account. Make sure that all your direct deposits are tied to your new Credit Union account.

3) Have your Credit Union account/routing numbers ready so you can visit your bank on Saturday, February 25th and transfer your money to your new Credit Union.

4) Let your bank know that you are divesting because the bank has not pulled their funds from DAPL.

If you cannot divest from your bank during this event, please fill-out our pledge card (to be handed at event) so we can follow-up with you to make sure your process is smooth!

Be ready to sign a petition to Mayor Sam Liccardo to demand the City of San Jose divest from the banks funding DAPL.
