Bay Area Artists Benefit for Standing Rock & Water Protectors

  • North Beach Bauhaus, Gallery & Artists Studios 703 Columbus San Francisco, California 94133 (map)

Two South Dakota women (Sara Ellis Conant and Romalyn Schmaltz) and many local artists bring you an early evening of community, positivity, poetry, politics, music, and a silent art auction. Confirmed speakers include Supervisor Aaron Peksin and author, journalist, and activist David Talbot. All proceeds will immediately go directly to the ongoing struggle to protect the Missouri River area endangered by the Dakota Access Pipeline by supporting the urgent needs of the tribes and volunteers—those who for almost a year have been protesting the invasion of their land and everybody's water by big corporations with no vision for a healthy future. At this time, much of it will likely go to legal defense, as many dozens of unlawful arrests continue to be made.

We need:
• Art donations (prints or originals)
• Beverage donations (adult and otherwise)
• Light snack donations
• Creative input
• Determined enthusiasm
• Possibly some acoustic musicians
• Cash donations (to the camp, not to us)

We're really striving to make this a beacon of light in a very dreary time, and we need you (and need to understand that we need the folks boldly on the front and frozen line of this battle. Please contact me in a private message here to help out.

Please come early—speakers will begin around 4:30. Please stay late—you'll make new connections and in this world, you're gonna need 'em.
