Atlantic Coast Pipeline-
The proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP) is a 550-mile long natural gas transmission pipeline that runs through Virginia and North Carolina. Atlantic, a company formed by four major, regionally based energy companies; Dominion, Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas and Southern Company Gas, would develop, construct and operate ACP. Sedimentation caused by construction could threaten the water quality especially those of special concern such as native brook trout streams and the headwater streams that supply the water used by the Shenandoah Valley. 40-50 miles of the $2 billion pipeline will go through national forests throughout region.
